Desktop app
5 min read
The desktop app lets you access Kujira in a dedicated window and receive notifications without opening your browser. You can check unread notifications and reply to your agents directly from notification cards. Your account, organizations, and data are the same as in the web version.
Currently available for Windows.
Requirements
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| System | Windows 10 or later, 64-bit. |
| Account | Your Kujira account. Use the same sign-in method as in the web version. |
| Connection | An Internet connection is required to use the app. |
| Administrator rights | Not required. The app installs for your Windows user account. |
Installation
Download the installer
Download Kujira-Setup.exe from kujira.so/en/download. If Windows warns you before it opens, see If Windows warns you during installation.
Run the setup wizard
Choose the installation folder or keep the one the wizard suggests. Installation does not need administrator rights.
The first time you open Kujira, sign in with your account. It is the same one you use in the web dashboard, and you will see the same organizations.
To uninstall the app, go to Windows Settings › Apps. Uninstalling preserves your Kujira account and data.
If Windows warns you during installation
The installer is signed by CALLTEK NETWORK, S.L. Windows may display Windows protected your PC if it does not yet recognize the installer as a trusted application. Before continuing, check the download source and publisher:
- Select More info.
- Check that the publisher is CALLTEK NETWORK, S.L.
- Select Run anyway.
Download only from kujira.so
If the publisher is anyone else, or you downloaded the installer from somewhere other than kujira.so, do not run it.
Notifications
When Kujira is in the background, minimized, or running with its window closed, notifications appear as cards in the bottom-right corner of your primary screen. They do not appear while you are using the Kujira window.
| Notification | Available actions |
|---|---|
| Turn finished | See which agent replied and send a reply to the conversation. |
| Pending approval | Approve or Reject without opening the dashboard. |
| Agent question | Select an answer when there are up to three options, or type a response if the question accepts free text. |
| Alert | Open the dashboard to view the item related to the alert. |
Cards close automatically after 6 seconds. Approvals and questions remain visible for 30 seconds. The timer pauses when you hover over a card. Buttons become available after a brief delay to reduce accidental clicks.
Alerts and approvals use your preferences in the Dashboard column of My account › Notifications. Configure Turn finished notifications using these settings under In-app notifications:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Notify when finished | Turns on the notification when an agent ends a turn. |
| System notifications | Enables cards when Kujira is in the background or running with its window closed. |
| Sound | Plays a sound with every card. |
| Show content in the notification | When disabled, the card identifies the agent that replied and hides the response content. |
Notification privacy
Disable Show content in the notification if other people can see your monitor. Cards are excluded from screenshots and screen sharing, but remain visible on your screen.
Signing out or switching account removes any pending cards.
Icon and unread notifications
The Kujira icon appears in the system tray while the app is running.
- Window open: the Kujira taskbar button displays a count of unread notifications for the active organization. At 9 or more, it displays 9+.
- Window closed: check the count by hovering over the tray icon (for example, "Kujira · 3 unread") or looking next to Notifications in its menu.
- Tray shortcuts: the menu includes Open Kujira, Notifications, My account, Check for updates, and Quit. When an update is ready to install, it also shows Restart to update.
The icon changes colour with the Windows theme so it stays visible on a light or dark taskbar.
Background and startup
By default, Kujira keeps running in the background when you close the window, so you continue to receive notifications. To exit the app, select Quit from the tray icon menu.
Configure this behavior under My account › Desktop, available in the desktop app. Settings are saved on each computer, allowing you to use a different configuration on each device.
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Start with Windows | Off. Opens Kujira when you sign in to the computer. |
| Keep running in the background when closed | On. When disabled, closing the window also exits the app and stops notifications. |
The same tab shows the installed app version.
Automatic updates
The dashboard and the desktop app update independently:
- The dashboard receives the same updates as the web version, without requiring you to reinstall the app.
- The desktop app checks for new versions every hour and downloads them in the background. It installs them when you select Quit, after verifying that they are signed by CALLTEK NETWORK, S.L.
When an update is ready, a notification card offers a Restart button to install it. You can also select Check for updates under My account › Desktop or in the tray menu. The app indicates whether it is up to date, downloading a new version, or unable to complete the check.
Older versions
The earliest versions require a manual update. In these versions, the dashboard shows A new version of the desktop app is available and a Download button. Download and run the installer to replace the previous version.
Installing a pending update
If Kujira keeps running in the background, closing the window does not install the update. Select Quit or Restart to update from the tray menu to apply it.
